ABOUT FOUNDER AND HIS KEYNOTE
Chandan Koranga, a proud millennial from the Koranga family of Kumaon, has been passionately working to bring his dream project — Wood Villas — to life. Now close to completion, this one-of-a-kind development is built entirely with the finest English Wood and German Pine, making it a rare architectural landmark in Uttarakhand’s tourism landscape.
Having faced the challenges of modern entrepreneurship head-on, Chandan’s determination and optimism continue to drive him. He believes Wood Villas will soon stand out as one of the most sought-after chalet and villa accommodations in the state.
Speaking about the project, Chandan says:
“Each villa is crafted entirely out of wood, with a design that reflects European finesse — something you rarely find in India. The villas open up to breathtaking views of the entire Himalayan range, giving every guest a truly unique experience.”
He further adds, “Our focus is on NRIs and high net worth individuals (HNIs), who have already shown great interest in this project. The villas will be available on lease for up to three years, with the option to renew further.”
Family Legacy in Kumaon
Mr. Chandan Singh Koranga belongs to a family deeply rooted in the traditions, values, and spirit of Kumaon. His forefathers, the Late Shri Dewan Singh Koranga and later Shri Nandan Singh Koranga, both served with honor and distinction in the Kumaon Regiment — one of the Indian Army’s most respected and decorated infantry units. Beyond their military service, the family has also been closely connected to Kumaon’s forests and wildlife, leading safaris to Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary with passion and innovation.
Chandan fondly recalls, “My late grandfather, Shri Dewan Singh Ji, was privileged to spend time with Jim Corbett himself, during an era when the Kumaon Himalayas were plagued by man-eating tigers and leopards. We grew up on stories of Corbett’s unmatched courage and his compassion for the land and its people. For us Kumaonis, tigers and leopards have never been seen merely as predators — their presence is a sign of a thriving ecosystem. Perhaps this way of thinking came from Corbett, the great hunter-turned-conservationist, who first taught us to respect and live in harmony with the Big Cats.”
VISION - SUSTAINABILITY AND premium development in Kumaon
Vision for the Future of Tourism in Kumaon Himalayas - Sustainable, Immersive & Carbon Neutral
Chandan Koranga, a proud son, envisions a new kind of tourism in the Kumaon Himalayas — sustainable, immersive, and carbon neutral. Through his Wood Villas project, he has welcomed travelers from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany and beyond, many of whom return year after year, drawn to Kumaon’s unmatched beauty and serene charm.
Perched in the idyllic Dhamas village at 1,424 meters, Wood Villas are crafted from German Pine and English Wood — rare in India and designed to offer both comfort and authenticity. More than just a stay, they provide guests with a chance to reconnect with nature, culture, and themselves — while preserving the fragile ecosystem of the Himalayas.
Promoting and Preserving Indegenous Heritage and Immersive Tourism in Kumaon
Chandan Koranga’s vision goes beyond showcasing the Kumaoni Himalayas — it’s about celebrating the region’s rich culture and tribal diversity. Efforts are already making a difference in villages like Sitlakhet and Balsa Gaon, where international visitors now return regularly, building lasting friendships with local communities.
What draws travelers back is not luxury, but authenticity. They value Kumaon as a place for slow, immersive tourism, where centuries-old traditions and village charm are preserved. Even with modest infrastructure, the chance to experience folklore, legends, and daily life in Kumaon makes the journey unforgettable.

“Koranga’s Wood Villas” is the dream project of Chandan Koranga, a proud millennial Kumaoni who is bringing his vision to life. Nearing completion, this one-of-a-kind development features wooden villas crafted from the finest English Wood and German Pine. Once ready, it will stand as a landmark in Uttarakhand’s luxury tourism landscape — blending Himalayan charm with world-class craftsmanship.
